Loan Periods
As a library member, you have many pleasures and privileges… and also certain responsibilities. Return library materials promptly – on or before the due date, so that more people can enjoy them.
- Books & Magazines: 4 weeks
- Books on Tape or CD: 4 weeks
- Videos & CDs: 4 weeks
- Seasonal / High Demand: 4 weeks** Items may be renewed up to two times, if there are no previous requests for these items.
Overdue Fines
Overdue Fines are applied to all items not returned by their due date. The standard overdue rate for an adult book is 10¢ per day. The standard overdue rate for a children’s book is 5¢ per day. Media items (videos, CD’s), those in high demand, or seasonal items are charged at a rate of 25¢ per day.
Library fines accumulate to a maximum of $5.00 per item. A patron’s borrowing privileges will be suspended once they have accumulated fines over $10.00. Fines must then be totally paid off in order to reinstate borrowing privileges.
Patrons are ultimately responsible to keep track of their items and know when they are due. However, as a courtesy, the Library sends out an overdue notice reminder once items are 2 weeks overdue. If the items are still not returned after 4 weeks, the patron is billed for the replacement cost of that item plus a $5.00 processing fee. Once an item is billed, the patron’s library privileges are suspended until all materials are returned and fines are paid.
